Newry Fliers 42 Rising Stars 29

Newry Fliers U16 Boys welcomed BNI league newcomers, Belfast Rising Stars, to their home court on Saturday. Having played this tough side once already this season, the Fliers knew they would have to work hard if they were to maintain their unbeaten record.

From the off, the Fliers looked sharp on offence with Guards Aaron Miller and Kamil McCabe working well together to move the ball and drive to the basket for points.

Flyer’s have another close call

Newry U14 Flyer’s squad travelled to Magherafelt last Saturday to take on the Titans team.
At their last meeting newry narrowly won after a stunning second half performance to come back from a 0-14 half time score to win 16-14. This time the game was more volatile but narrow margins are how this team seems to win, and this another one of those games.

Fliers Conquer Titans

Newry Fliers U16 Boys kick-started the 2nd half of their season on the road to Magherafelt to face the Titans in what was to be an epic clash. In their previous meeting, the Fliers won by a comfortable margin. However, missing team Captain Aaron Miller and top scorer for the game, the Fliers knew they had an extra challenge on their hands today.

Newry Fliers 39 Blackstone 21

Having faced a tough Blackstone side at the start of the season, Newry Fliers U16 Boys welcomed the Ballymena team on Saturday, hoping that their home court would give them the advantage.

Having won the tip, Eoin McStay opened scoring early for the Fliers. Point guard Kamil McCabe took charge of the game for his team, setting the pace at the level that suits the Fliers best, working the ball around the court and allowing for shot after shot for the home side.

Fliers Reign Over Queens

Queens 26 Newry Fliers 43

After a poor performance against Tigers two weeks ago, Newry Fliers U16 Boys travelled to Belfast to face Queens and to prove they were a much stronger team than previously demonstrated.

Before the game, Fliers Coach Lisa O’Keeffe told the boys that a win was not good enough; she wanted to see the Fliers at their best, knowing that this team has the skill and potential to go all the way and lift the title. And the talk seemed to work as the Fliers didn’t fail to impress.
