Downpatrick Vikings Defeat Newry Fliers at home.

Only two weeks from their first meeting this season Newry Fliers faced Downpatrick Vikings again. This time with home court advantage coach Paul Crawley hoped that his young side would play the game to their strengths using their speed and run the Vikings off the bigger home court.

Sorry I didn't get these out at the time, was too busy getting ready for xmas :). Pete.

The second half of December was a busy month for the Newry U14 Squad, with 3 games in the 2 weeks running up to Christmas. First was a trip to take on the Andersontown tigers in Belfast followed by a double header against Letterkenny Blaze A and B the week before Christmas.

Last Sunday Newry’s U19 Boys faced the current league leaders Omagh Thunder in the 4th game of the season and while the Newry side fought to the final whistle they were unable to shake Omagh from their position.

U14's Fly high over Thunder

Omagh Thunder visited Newry Fiyers U14 team for their first meeting of the season. Last year, Omagh were the team to beat and with this year was shaping up to be the same. Both teams entered the contest unbeaten and the game lived up to the expectations.

Newry opened confidently and took an early lead in the first quarter. Omagh found it hard to get any momentum going and Aaron Miller and Conor Yendall Led the charge. From the outset the game was being fought hard and both teams quickly got into team fouls in the first quarter. This early development would affect the game in the longer run. The first quarter finished 13-7.
