U19 Boys defeated at home 43-46

It was another tense game Last saturday morning at the newry sports centre as the U19 Boys teams started their 07 season playing the same team that had defeated the senior team 4 days earlier.

It was another close game, with the teams finishing the 1st quarter 14 pts each. Newry worked hard to break the Full court press defence played by lisburn, and using their speed, Alan Gorman, Ryan Lennon and Scott Rafferty were able to break down the D and score some excellent fast break baskets.

During the second quarter Newry lost their way, and just could not keep lisburn out from under the basket. Lisburn made the most of their free throw oppurtunities and finshed the quarter 5 points ahead.

Newry showed some heart in the second half with great defence from Shaun Fearon and Paul Flemming, and Ryan Lennon stepped up with 4 straight baskets to help Newry close the gap to 3 points.

Unfortunately it wasnt enough. Despited captain Alan Gorman leading by example (Alan finished the game on 19 points), Newry couldnt close the gap and the game finished Newry 43, Lisburn 46
