Newry Basketball Club

Juniors hit their target and more!! The week before Christmas saw Newry Basketball Club host an exciting and fun-filled competition weekend. The competition was organised in recognition of members? effort throughout the first half of the season and to raise money to buy a new basketball strip for Newry?s U19 team, who have showed continued success this season.

On the Saturday, younger members enjoyed a competition morning. Members first participated in a range of drills that showed off their developing skills before moving on to exciting and enjoyable games. The day ended with certificates of achievement being awarded to the children and awards to those who have shone in 2005.

On the Sunday, the U19 and U16 players had a 3V3 tournament, which saw seven teams battle head to head in what proved to be an exhilarating and intense afternoon. The conclusion of the battle saw Shaun Fearon, Alan Gorman and Chris Gorman given the title of Champions of 2005.

To date, the club has raised £700 with money still rolling in. Newry Basketball Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all the club members who participated in the competition weekend and to all those who sponsored our players and donated money towards our new team strip.
