The 2005/06 season had its ups and downs for the Newry side. After a 2004/05 season that saw the Club on the losing side of a number of games within Division One of the Ulster League, at almost every level Newry went back to the drawing board with a season of hard learnt lessons behind them.
Within the new UBA league structure Newry were once again in Division One having finished 5th last year. The Senior Men’s squad finished the 05/06 season a strong 12 wins – 5 loss. It appeared that the ground work put in by both the team and coach David Mc Keown was starting to pay off.
A tough season followed and while Newry were hard to beat at Home the same could not be said of the Away games. Often the Oaks side found themselves less than full strength heading to long distance matches and while the team fought hard the win was often just out off reach.
Newry Oaks finished a the season in 3rd position within the Ulster League Division One.
Newry Basketball Club looks forward to continued success within the Ulster Leagues and would again like to thank ‘Oaks Recruitment’ of Patrick Street in Newry for all their continued help and support.
